Montaño is making his sixth Championship start and his first since 2019. In the first five editions of the Latin America Amateur, he had three top 10s and did not finish outside the top 25. In 2024, the reinstated amateur won six World Amateur Golf Ranking events in Bolivia. Before turning professional in 2019, he earned junior All-America honors in both 2013 and 2014, played two seasons each on the men’s golf teams at Xavier University in Ohio and the University of North Carolina and finished third in both the North and South Amateur and Mexican Amateur Championships in 2018.
