Machado is making his sixth Championship start and his first since 2019. In 2024, he won five events in what was his return to the World Amateur Golf Ranking. After competing as a professional in 2019 and 2020, he stopped playing golf due to the challenges of the pandemic. Before turning professional, he notably won the 2016 Argentine Amateur, 2017 Faldo Series Grand Final and 2018 Brazilian Amateur and represented his country in the Eisenhower Trophy in 2014, 2016 and 2018.
