Palacios is making his fourth Championship start. In last year’s Latin America Amateur in Panama, he shot a third-round 67 on his way to a top-25 finish. In September, he started his sophomore season at the University of Utah by finishing runner-up in the Palouse Collegiate in Washington State. In 2021-2023, he won at least five World Amateur Golf Ranking events each year and represented Guatemala in the Eisenhower Trophy in 2022 in France and in 2023 in Abu Dhabi.
